I recently published an article on The Dock: An Anabaptist Resource for Teaching and Learning. The article is titled “Place Yourself in the Feet of a Child” and begins like this:
“Years after my childhood, I returned to the school I once attended. The rooms of the building were empty and cool, the tiled hallways vacant. A musty smell lingered in closets and in corners of classrooms. My feet sounded loud on the floor.”
The essay goes on to explore the heart-stopping realness and vulnerability of that place that is childhood. Visit The Dock to read the rest of it.
The Dock, for those of you who haven’t heard of it, compiles information, advice, inspiration, and resources for teachers and parents. The Dock is particularly relevant for Anabaptist teachers, but any person of any faith who teaches children will find it useful.
I have been writing regularly for The Dock for over a year now and have amassed a total of twelve articles. Titles include “The Stranger Within,” “Ten Creative Ways to Promote Writing,” and “Cultural Intelligence.” Visit my Dock bio page to access the rest.
