A New Year, A New Book

Where have I been? Editing, mostly. I have a new memoir coming out this spring with Elk Lake Publishing, and I am currently working on the 22nd revision–though in all honesty, I stopped counting long ago.

I call my upcoming book Turtle Heart. It tells the story of a friendship that changed me.

My friend was a feisty old Ojibwe woman who grew up fending for herself. I was a shy young Mennonite so sheltered I’d never even heard the “F word.” We were different on almost every level. And yet, in the center lay a spot where we connected, where we shared nerve and muscle and bone like conjoined twins. If you’ve read Anything But Simple, you’ve already read a tiny piece of our story.

I will tell you more soon. Right now, I need to go edit.

  1. I’m so glad that this book is becoming a reality, Luci! I can’t wait to read it.
