A Letter to You

Dear World,

You look so big and overwhelming to me right now. Some days I feel like I sit at the very top of you with power to grab and swing you by your tail, toss you over my shoulder, and ride.

Other days I just want to sit very small, cold, and white in a corner, like a ghost, and say nothing and do nothing the rest of my life because you are so very BIG. There is so much of you, and so much of you that doesn’t fit into my tiny frame of thought. So much of you that seems brutal and vibrant and pulsing and violent all at once. It scares me.

Gathering courage,

Luci

Dear Father,

You are good. Your arms wrap around me close even when I feel scared and alone and tired and grumpy. Especially then.

Thank you,

Luci

Dear Friends,

Your support and love, your encouragement and kind words, mean more to me than you probably realize. You give me courage. You make me feel warm inside. Because of you, I can and do step out into the world and smile and realize how NICE people are, if you just once get to know them. And also how flawed, scared, immature, thoughtless, cruel–because there is that, too.

But mostly, on most occasions, NICE.

You taught me that, because you are nice. Thank you.

Love,

Luci

P.S. Above is the book trailer for Anything But Simple, where I share my heart for the book. If you received this by email and were unable to view the trailer that way, you are welcome to click through to the blog. And if anyone has difficulty viewing, please let me know. I will try to fix it.

I am so thankful for you, Linda. Your comments and input on my blog have been an encouragement.

  3. I have watched the little video a number of times. It is nice to hear a voice to put with the writing. Also, blue is definitely your color. But I can’t figure out what that is you are putting into the oven??

Pizza. With sorta lumpy processed cheese because it was all we had at the time. And pepperoni. ;)

      1. OK, I can see it as pizza now. Those must be large slices of pepperoni. On my screen I thought it was peach halves so I thought it was a dessert. I never thought of using a jelly roll pan.

        1. Lucinda, you need to visit a near by cheese factory and stock up. That is what we do, buy 5 lb chunks at a time.

  4. Oh, Lucinda. Your audible voice matches the voice I have grown to appreciate on your blog. Carl Jung has said, “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are,” authentic and real. You are well on your way.

Making a book trailer was anything but simple, but you made it seem easy. It’s just your way. I will definitely read your book.

By the way, I think what you are putting in the oven is pizza squares. Maybe.

Thank you, Marian! I appreciate those kind words. And you are right on about the pizza squares.

    1. Thank you! That was a very nice thing to say. Maybe we will have the opportunity to meet someday. I would like that.

  5. Love it Luci !! Looking forward to reading it. –From another girl that grew up in Rusk County
