Lucinda J Kinsinger

Birth Announcement

Meet Annalise Ida Kinsinger. Born Tuesday, June 15 at 6:00 A.M. on the dot. (She’s prompt like her daddy.)

In the 9 days since her birth, I have been spending 24/7 learning how to be her mommy. Another week, I will write more. Right now, I have no words for the joy that she brings me.

Rejoicing with you at your daughter’s safe arrival. A baby is a gift from God, a miracle. I too love being a Mother and now Grandmother! Blessings to the three of you…the picture of baby snuggling with Daddy bright tears to my eyes. Children that are joyfully welcomed and loved by two parents are so blessed…

  9. rejoicing with you! i think she looks a perfect blend of the two of you; her eyes hold the same curious and observant pose as yours.

  11. My goodness. What a miracle.

Last week I was asked to write a little parenting blurb for a co-worker who is expecting. Here are my thoughts:

I remember sitting at the dinner table one day when my daughter was little, and being taken aback by the flash of sass and attitude that this sweet child tossed my way. Then, a few minutes later, I caught myself feeling annoyed with my husband and being less than kind to him… In that moment I realized that children imitate their parents. They watch us and do what we do. Even the ugly bits. If I want my child to respect me and be courteous, even when she’s irritated, I have to watch myself in the unguarded, emotional moments when I think my attitude and actions really don’t matter that much.

One other thing I’ve learned… there’s no way to get everything right. Every parent makes mistakes. Our children can not only survive, but thrive, in spite of our failures. I am very aware of the ways I’ve been a less-than-ideal parent and the best thing I can do is own it, apologize for it, forgive myself, and move on.

    1. That second paragraph – yes. I would like to tell every new parent to turn in their ‘perfect parent’ card right from the beginning, and just get it over with. Much more relaxing.

  17. So glad to know your baby arrived safely and you can finally hold her. I see her mama in her bright dark eyes! 😊

  18. Congratulations !! Children are a blessing from God!! We have 4 children who are married and have given us 14 grandchildren. Some of them are married and now we are blessed with 2 greatgrandchildren and one on the way. One of our “greats” left this morning with his parents to travel to S. Africa as they serve with Teen Missions. He is only 1 1/2 years. Our prayers go with him.
Enjoy being a mother and write when you choose. This morning I read what you wrote in the Anabaptist World The irony of my Mennonite-ness….Well written.

  19. Congratulations! She’s so precious! “No words for the joy that she brings me” – I love that description.

  20. Congratulations! She is adorable! And so begins one of the most rewarding and challenging journeys of your life!
